About the Opportunity
The Senior Syngas Process Engineer provides deep syngas technology expertise and syngas operations experience in support of safe and reliable operations, growth projects, new technology development and sustainability.
Provide support for syngas technologies including steam reforming, partial oxidation and solid gasification at eight Acetyls sites worldwide to drive improved performance and identify options to reduce carbon emissions as part of a multidiscipline team of talented engineers.
Appraise new project opportunities and develop concepts for syngas supply and integration including technology selection. Own relationships with syngas technology providers and provide engineering assurance on design proposals.
About the duties;
Provide technical support, operational expertise, and engineering assurance in service of the safe and reliable operation of Acetyls assets worldwide
Develop strong relationships with all syngas assets, wholly owned and third party, through regular calls and visits, assessment of performance, provision of technical support and ownership of improvement projects.
Share best practice and lessons learned between Acetyls assets whilst maintaining licensor confidentiality.
Monitor syngas asset reliability performance, understand the root causes of reliability events and intervene to identify and implement reliability improvement actions.
Monitor syngas asset efficiency performance, identifying and delivering efficiency improvement actions and leveraging improvements across multiple sites where appropriate.
Appraise new project opportunities and develop concepts for syngas supply and integration including technology licensor identification and selection and inputting capital and operating cost estimates
Provide technical assistance including risk management, engineering assurance and vendor engagement to the subsequent stages of major projects
Provide syngas catalyst and chemicals expertise to support the identification and selection of appropriate materials and subsequent evaluation of their performance
Stay appraised of new technology developments via a strong industry network
Develop and maintain professional relationships with syngas technology licensors to obtain access to the latest technology and timely support for manufacturing assets
About you
You will be a chartered Chemical Engineer with detailed understanding of the process design and operational vulnerabilities of syngas technologies from a manufacturing, technology development or projects background.
You will have significant experience of working with or for syngas technology providers, excellent conceptual design and process simulation skills and deep understanding of economics of syngas supply. Familiarity with the hydrogen economy, decarbonization technologies and sustainability concepts is an advantage.
