PRIDE
Lillian a beautiful girl at sixteen lived with her
parents and her younger sister Mary, who was twelve years old. At school a new
boy was admitted into her class. His name was George, he was seventeen and very
handsome. Lillian who was a proud girl saw George and thought “well, I know I
am beautiful and I know he is going to date me. Oh! How I will love to turn him
down”. Soon, one of her cousins, Megan who was shy and also very pretty joint
Lillian and her family and she got admitted into same school and class with Lillian. Megan was sixteen too. To
Lillian, Megan was unattractive and could not do anything pleasant to her.
During mid-term, their classmates had a party. Lillian went to the party with a
boy called Peter. Megan, always shy sat alone at the corner where she could not
be observed. When peter left Lillian to go and get drinks, George approached
Lillian with a stern look and gentle smile. “Yes, here he comes” Lillian said
to a self while smiling. Immediately George opened his mouth “excuse me
Lillian”, Lillian responded “I am busy please” and she left his site. She
expected George to follow her but he just shrugged and went back to his group
of friends. Then Lillian noticed that each time George passed by their house he
looked at their house with so much desire. Her room mirror was beside her
window so each time George passed, she will carry the mirror and back the
window so she could look at him through the mirror and not directly.
