Copywriter Associate

We are looking for a Copywriter Associate to join the Sponsored Content Services team within our Epocrates division. Your job will be to develop and deliver high-quality clinical messages for our mobile app, contributing towards every stage of the content development process. This will include planning, writing, regulatory review, and revisions. But enough about us; let’s talk about you.

You have the ability to contribute towards every stage of the editorial development process, including content journey mapping, writing, regulatory review, and revisions. You are able to communicate in a clear and thorough manner with direct client contact, and internal reporting. You are able to collaborate and work cross-functionally across several different teams including account managers, sales executives, and digital strategists

The Team: Our Sponsored Content Services Team is responsible for developing physician-facing educational messages for Epocrates, an athenahealth service and the #1 medical reference app for physicians at the point of care. Epocrates is now used by more than 800,000 healthcare professionals nationwide. As our messages are used to guide treatment decisions, the integrity of our content is important. Sponsored Content writers and editors ensure that all messages are of the highest quality—by complying with FDA guidelines and AMA style—and meet the expectations of our users.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Apply knowledge of how the various Epocrates products are used and how they function to determine best approach to developing content
  • Leverage client assets to develop high-quality clinical messages that are consistent with a brand’s marketing strategy, while meeting Epocrates standards and product technical specifications
  • Apply knowledge of MLR standards to incorporate appropriate clinical data, supporting content, safety balance, and referencing
  • Identify all typographical, grammatical, and usage errors, and ensure all content meets epocrates standards and technical specifications
  • Learn and follow client requirements and procedures for annotations
  • Analyze complex scientific data and interpret it to identify claims in promotional messages for healthcare professionals
  • Research pharmaceutical client product efficacy/safety, attributes, and competitive landscapes to determine what differentiates the brand in the market and how best to tell the “brand story” within and across Epocrates products

Typical Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; BS in biology, life science, or public health preferred or a graduate degree in public health or a writing discipline
  • 2+ years of work experience in medical/pharmaceutical copywriting, preferably with healthcare agency or pharma-direct experience
  • Medical/pharmaceutical copyediting/writing experience for the electronic and/or mobile environment strongly preferred
  • Experience writing content across a broad range of therapeutic areas
  • Client service facing experience ideal, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
