PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLEResponsible for the technical output, the administrative operation and the development of Control & Instrumentation Department ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSDegree Qualified Chartered Engineer ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCEBackground in Chemical/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas IndustriesMinimum 10 years experience in a line management position relating to Control & Instrumentation Engineering Design or equivalent ESSENTIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGEEnglish Language – written, spoken and technicalThorough knowledge of engineering practices, codes and regulations relating Process IndustriesTUV certified in the application of IEC 61508/61511 for the configuration, design and legislative requirements of safety critical systems.CompEx 12 certified in the requirements of ATEX and its associated directives, in the design of instrumentation systems for use in hazardous areas.Understanding of machinery safety requirement and its application to control and interlockingRequirements of Cyber security associated with plant control systems and architecture.Awareness of Quality Management System philosophy ESSENTIAL SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGEIT literateFamiliar with Control & Instrumentation Engineering Software (ExSILentia / Intools) KEY TASKS AND MAIN DUTIESDevelopment of overall concepts and specifications for engineering designsProducing engineering deliverables from design schedules to equipment specifications and safety system related documentationSupervising and directing the engineering work carried out in the departmentAdvising and guiding Engineers and DesignersMonitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and client standardsLiaising with Clients on engineering contracts and design servicesRecruitment of staff to work in the departmentSuccession planningAssessment of training requirements and staff developmentPreparation and approval of estimates within negotiating authorityLiaising with other engineering disciplines to ensure interdisciplinary compatibility on projectsResponsibility for and ownership of relevant Business Management System (BMS) processesDevelop and improve Process Department procedures and working practices ESSENTIAL QUALITIESPlanning & Prioritisation – Ability to identify what needs to be done, develop an appropriate action plan and monitor progressTeam Leadership – Use an open and inclusive style of leadership to instil a shared sensed of leadershipGood communicatorGood interpersonal skillsVersatility and flexibilityPro-active and self motivatedCommercial awarenessProfessional and responsible attitude DESIREABLEExperience in all phases of commissioning and constructional supervision for various systems and plants.
