Position Overview Our Client is accepting applications for the position of Wells Project Engineer, located in our Aberdeen Office. The Wells Project Engineer will support Up front Well Engineering – Preliminary and Conceptual phases, including time and cost estimating for all Prospect Wells. Duties will cover all aspects of the initial drilling, completions, subsea and well test planning in conjunction with the Wells Department. Additionally, will support the Well Integrity and NOJV scopes. Responsibilities • Deliver preliminary and conceptual design work for prospect wells, in conjunction with the Subsurface and Wells Departments. • Preliminary Engineering – prepare time and cost estimates, prepare project/well schedules, initial design montages, identify long leads, initial project risk assessments and decision support documents • Conceptual Engineering – First pass anti-collision analysis, review lessons learnt, relief well complexity assessment/first pass design, undertake conceptual engineering – directional, MW window/wellbore stability, hydraulics, T&D, kick tolerance, 1st pass casing design/tubing analysis, contingency design(s), XMT/Wellhead design, tubing sizing, metallurgy selection, artificial lift design and sand prediction etc. Agree & document shortlist of concepts – cost and feasibility (incl. key risks), alternatives screening, technology selection & maturation. Rig Selection/Tendering (if appropriate) & contracting strategy plan, update cost & availability of long lead items, prepare LLAFE & Procure long leads (if appropriate – prior to approval), manage site surveys and prepare desktop studies. • Support the Well Integrity team on engineering reviews of well integrity issues of operating, suspended and long term shut in wells. • Support the Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) team with technical knowledge on well related activities. • Participate/contribute to changes and improvements to the Well Management System. • Participate in weekend duty and emergency response rotas. • Ensure the client standards for QHSE are rigorously applied to the well delivery process and suggest improvements to the system. • Participate in the safety and environmental programmes and encourage other team members to do the same. • Assist and deputise for Well Engineering Team Lead. Qualifications • Industry recognised academic qualification (degree or equivalent) or comparable industrial experience. Engineering degree preferred. • Significant experience in Wells Department of an operator or a well management company. • Proven capability in well engineering with substantial experience in the planning, operational/execution and close-out phases of wells. Proficiency required in Central North Sea activities, Platform & MODU drilling, HPHT and ERD. • Competency on Stresscheck/Wellcat, Wellpan and Wellview. • Preferred experience of supporting engineers through Preliminary and Conceptual design phase, supervising graduate engineers and internals. • Well control certification at IWCF Level 4 or equivalent. • Works well with others in a multi-functional team environment.
