Position Purpose

Provides support to the Facility through monitoring and reporting of daily production line activities as directed by the FSQR Supervisor. Position assures compliance to quality and regulatory aspects of production through various forms of auditing in comparison to Cargill and Customer expectations. Position acts as consumer and customer advocate in supporting quality and wholesome food production.

Responsibilities:

  • Pulling samples for micro and completing chemistries, understand FOSS and accurately record results.

  • Swab equipment for environmental program.

  • Verification of HACCP checks and production checks on the plant floor.

  • Complete GMP audits daily.

  • Audit combos for temperature, timeliness, and fat content.

  • Complete audits of room temperatures daily.

  • Complete audits as necessary (ex: Clerical Tool Audit, Hair Audit, etc.).

  • Complete Inventory Transaction Forms as needed.

  • Place product on hold/release as necessary to meet customer requirements

  • Once production is finished, wash the Robot Coupe, Robot Coupe blade, FOSS machine disk, and all sample tubs

  • Regularly check for overhead condensation, oil, dirt, or any other food safety hazards

  • Ensure sterilizers are always working properly and check for housekeeping

  • Regularly check all meat wash sinks to ensure they have a sterilizer bottle and that the bottle has a secondary label

  • Promotable to supervisory/management level position with experience and superior initiative

  • Flexibility to work alternate hours on day shift or night shift as necessary

  • Weekend work will be required as needed

Principal accountabilities

  • 40% Perform routine quality and food safety checks for product integrity
  • 20% Ensure product quality and food safety policies and procedures are implemented and maintained by all associates
  • 20% Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and specifications of process
  • 10% Enforce and audit Good Manufacturing and Good Hygiene Practices
  • 5% Evaluation and verification of production practices that ensure quality products
  • 5% Other duties as assigned


Prolonged periods of walking and standing required. Work hours approximately 5:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday throughout most of the year. Saturdays and Sundays as required depending on production levels. This role must have the ability to interpret written policy, take action and make informed decisions. This role involves physical activity in a food processing environment, which generally requires a moderate amount of exertion on a fairly regular basis–involving bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing more than 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Walking or standing for extended periods of time will be required as well as the occasional use of stairs and/or ladders. The work may also involve other exertions, conditions or exposures (e.g. heat, cold, dust). This position is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces, moving mechanical parts and fast paced warm/cool environments. Personal protective equipment use is required in all areas of the facility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or visa sponsored by a third-party employer
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a high school diploma/GED or 1 years’ experience in a quality control, production, and/or military role
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years’ experience in quality control
  • HACCP experience and training
  • Previous work experience in a food production plant
  • Computer software experience in Microsoft Office applications
