Environmental and Regulatory Compliance Advisor - Job Description
- The role provides environmental and regulatory compliance support to the drilling and wells team to ensure compliance with UK legislations.
- The key job responsibilities are to ensure environmental and regulatory guidance and support is provided to enable Drilling and Wells activities and drive improvements in environmental performance. The role is responsible for ensuring all Permits, Licences, Authorisations and Consents are submitted and approved on time to support Drilling and Exploration projects.
- This is an influential technical position. Critical to success will be the need to provide practical support and intervention to the organisation and provide functional guidance.

Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and improving drilling and well environmental and sustainability performance and deliver operational follow up; including offshore visits
- Delivery of key Permits, Licences, Authorisations, Notifications and Consents to ensure activities are delivered to schedule
- Ensure effective implementation of the environmental element of the management system for drilling and wells operations and planning, to ensure work processes meet HSE best practice and ensure compliance with local legislation
- Deliver asset stakeholder management, including authority relations according to assigned responsibilities
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of environmental performance data to meet internal and external requirements (EEMS)
- Deliver support, advice and challenge the organisation in sustainability, climate and environmental related issues
- Promote sustainability, climate and environmental performance improvement and lead and participate in improvement projects.
- Lead or participate in drilling and wells incident investigations as required
- Provide assurance that all drilling and wells environmental incidents are correctly reported internally and to authorities; ensuring all cases are followed up to ensure action closure
- Analyse environmental incident and performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Oil Spill Response and Preparedness for drilling and wells activities, including ensuring the effective implementation of OPEPs for drilling and wells activities and that effective exercises of the OPEP are undertaken on the any contracted drilling facility
- Drive sustainability and environmental risk evaluations and participate in the functional risk management processes
- Lead and participate in internal verifications and participate in regulatory audits
- Support interfacing arrangements for contractors and 3rd parties as required
- Take an active role in internal networks to ensure compliance with company initiatives
- Take an active role within industry bodies such as Step Change and OGUK to ensure best practice is adopted
- Assist in driving the changes and ambitions of our company within area of responsibilities

Background;
- Relevant degree or equivalent related to the position
- Experience of working as Environmental Advisor in UK Oil and Gas Operations and Regulatory Regime essential
- Experience of drilling and wells activities essential
- A working knowledge of environmental management systems, ideally ISO 14001
- Experience in auditing and performance review (Internal or lead auditor qualification is desirable)
- Must be able to travel offshore, preferably hold MIT BOSIET and Medical. This is a onshore role with sporadic offshore visits.
