Our client a major Oil & Gas operator are looking to add a Control Room Operator to work from their Onshore reception facility at Bacton in Norfolk.

The role will be a 12 month contract role working on a 7 day on 7 day off rotational basis, each shift will be 12 hours in duration.

You will be working in accordance with operational procedures, temporary operating procedures & operational Risk Assessments to ensure that platform availability and reliability are maximised.

There will be a requirement to safely control all gas requirements from NUI's (Normally Unmanned Installations) and keep manned platforms and terminals informed of NUI status and flow changes where required. Responsibility will include operating control desks, maintaining close co-operation with Gas Co-ordinators, third party managers and offshore platform crews to help ensure that correct gas production and sales rates are achieved, and pipeline liquids are managed in a safe and controlled manner.

Key Tasks:

• Actively monitor the process and safety status of the installations.
• Working with the offshore Operations Techs, use the Process Control System (PCS) to control and bring plant on and off safely, as required.
• Respond to all onshore and offshore alarms and inform relevant people of any problems.
• Apply good operational knowledge to fault finding and troubleshooting techniques for both onshore and offshore problems.
• Maintain plant readings.
• Recognising, interpreting, and intercepting trends to avoid process or safety upsets.
• Maintaining onshore information requirements, including status of plants, manning status of installations, POBs etc
• Provision of first line ESD response for offshore and onshore incidents. • Assist in the generation of the Daily/Weekly Handover, maintaining accurate information for the oncoming shift/crew.
• Monitor all offshore platforms and achieve nomination with the safe control of bringing wells on and off, glycol injection and informing offshore crews of any operational problems.
• Communicate offshore status to the Superintendent, Terminal Manager and others via periodic reports scheduled and unscheduled.
• Maintain all appropriate log keeping systems in a timely manner.
• Assist in the development of Operational and Maintenance Procedures.
• Provide assistance for project work working with vendors as required.
• Keep Metering and Comms Technicians aware of issues that could affect production or safety.
• Prepare and distribute Production Reports.
• Strive for continuous improvement within the department and assist in rectification of known process issues or faults on the NUIs.
• Follow and complete the Operations training plans to achieve competence sign-off. Monitor and complete PCAP assessment profiles of self and team and prioritise training towards Plant, Control Desk and SIRP competence.
• Demonstrate own safety commitment to all staff by working in a safe manner. Talk with other staff to ensure they deliver the expected standards of safety. Attend site safety meetings, toolbox talks and safety stand downs to show commitment.
• Ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Work within the ISSOW/SIRP process to manage conflicting activities and maintain safe working environment.
• Utilise safety behavioural tools such as toolbox talks and POST to enhance safety performance of personnel and visitors.
• Actively take part in safety meetings within team and with other teams. • Be familiar with and take part in Emergency Response exercises.
• Actively take part as appropriate in accident, incident and near miss investigations.
• Complete Computer Based Training for CMAS, ISSOW, SIRP and other elements as required to maintain knowledge and safe working environment for the Terminal.
• Contribute to a team that is flexible, functional and open that can fulfil business objectives.
• Ensure the team are a motivated work force that feels their views and problems are listened to and suggestions are considered.
• Act as coach and mentor to new team members. Fulfil performance objectives to enhance team skills and knowledge base.
• Be receptive to team members and other workers and coordinate work activities along with the needs of others.

There are a number of Safety Critical Tasks that you will be made aware of and systems you will be required to competently operate

Qualifications & Experience

• Remote gas compression / NUI control experience is strongly desired
• Experience in a relevant trade with a good foundation knowledge of process operations in the offshore and onshore gas production industry.
