Senior Geologist
Purpose of Role:
• To provide geoscience technical support to assets to which they are seconded and in corporate quality assurance & mentoring as required
• To identify and promote learning and new technology that may open opportunities for added value in other client assets, operated and non-operated.
Areas of Responsibility Competence Level:
• Represents the client at partnership events both technically and behaviourally
• Collaborate and influence the Operator & Partners to maximise the value of the company's business
• Internal coordination and liaison role with JV partners and cross asset support
• Conducts appropriate geological studies pertinent to the asset/project/prospect e.g. well log analysis and correlation, sequence and seismic stratigraphy, structural geology, basin modelling and geochemistry
• Integrates geoscience data at all scales of investigation from SEM though core scale petrophysics/sedimentology, log interpretation and correlation to geocellular modelling incorporating seismic interpretation and regional depositional or diagenetic patterns
• Conducts risk and volumetric estimations for exploration and appraisal prospects (both deterministic and probabilistic)
• Carries out well planning and operations support
• Supports the internal Reserves and Resource evaluation process
• Contribute to Business plan delivery and Influencing Plan
• Provides technical peer reviews for other assets or new ventures as required by functional management
• Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager
• Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and HSEQ & business procedure
Critical Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Educated to at least Degree level in Geoscience with extensive exploration experience within an Oil & Gas Operator, a sound working knowledge of industry software packages and an appreciation of development and commercial issues
• Can recognise and analyse complex problems, devising elegant and robust non-standard solutions where appropriate.
• Able to make reasoned perceptive interpretations that integrate all available data in data sparse situations while remaining open-minded about alternative scenarios and willing to listen to suggestions and new ideas
• Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency but also a strong team player who can work closely with and co-ordinate other disciplines
• Effective discipline mentor and technical reviewer
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Awareness of commercial issues as well as purely technical ones
